..........BIO

In 1994 Dayton, Ohio witnessed the emergence of local band Shrug. The band wasted little time building a loyal fan base with their lyrical driven, heartfelt live shows. Shrug released its debut CD Straight To Beta in 1995, winning that summer's Dayton Band Playoffs and also making it to the final four of Cincinnati's (WOXY FM) 97Xposure competition.

Shrug's perseverance through the tumultuous world of live rock 'n' roll led them to their present coupling with New York City based independent record label Rock Records. In 1998 Rock Records released the band's sophomore album Everything's Blowing Up Roses. The karma from the CD's title rang true as Shrug found itself charting #17 in the country on College Music Journal's Radio 200 Add’s Chart as well as performing in 1999's NXNE and CMJ music festivals. Shrug's unique sound caught fire quickly on college radio all across the nation landing the band on station top ten lists from New England to Washington State and again charting on CMJ’s Top 200 Chart. Success breeds success. Shortly thereafter Shrug began to tour throughout the East and Mid West landing gigs with some heavy hitting national acts like; Guided By Voices, Men At Work, Fuel, The Verve Pipe, Citizen King, Fastball, etc.

Over time the band honed its skills and sound and a three-piece band grew into a four-piece with an amazing groove-rock style all its own. November 2002 brought the newest Rock Records release, Shrug's self-titled and most solid and focused album to date. It wasn't long after the release of the third album the band was under the spotlight once again. Out of 173 tri-state area bands, Shrug for the second time made it to the finals of this years 97Xposure competition. The first track Lady Malaria, off the latest album has been getting heavy rotation on Cincinnati's alternative rock station 97X.

Shrug's reverence for the music that came before them combined with its desire to move things forward a step or two, results in an intriguing sound, simultaneously fresh and familiar. Put the CD in and see if you agree. Thanks for listening.
